Details:Verizon Wireless Prepaid Phone for $20
LG Optimus Exceed 2 smartphone for $20.

This is a no-contract phone, and does not require any mobile service plan. The phone runs on prepaid plans, meaning you only pay for each month in advance before using the phone. According to Verizon Wireless, Prepaid Plans have no monthly bills, no credit checks, and you can cancel the service at any time.

The cheapest Prepaid Plan costs $45 for a month of unlimited talk and text with 1GB of data usage. If you use up your 1GB of data allowance in a month, you can buy another 1GB of data for $10.

The reviews are fairly positive, with people liking the phone for two reasons:
  • Reason #1: People like Verizon because the coverage is some of the best in the US. A prepaid plan that goes month-to-month is nice for temporary phone usage, for someone traveling within the US or only uses a phone during certain months.
  • Reason #2: You have no obligation to sign up for Verizon service, so this phone can be used as a portable Wifi device with a touch screen and 5-megapixel camera. It can play MP3/music/videos, play Android games/apps, be a remote control for your home theater, or be a security camera for your house. Even if you never activate the phone service, it can still make emergency (911) calls.
Overall, for $20 this is a great deal.

Specs of the phone include:
  • Dual-core 1.2GHz processor
  • MicroSD memory card slot, capable of up to 32GB of additional storage.
  • Weighs 4.5 ounces.
  • Battery capacity is 2,100mAh. In comparison, an iPhone 6 has a 1,810mAh battery.
  • Android operating system, capable of running apps through Google Play.
If you want to bypass the initial phone activation when turning on the phone for the first time, watch this Youtube video. It explains to press volume up, volume down, back button, and home key. That will let you use the phone by itself, working on Wifi networks and as a standalone device, without activating Verizon service. You can always add Verizon service later.
