LONG-WINDED REVIEW: I will begin by stating I own Insignia’s NS-32D311NA17 (32 inch 720p) in a living room used occasionally and Insignia’s NS-39D310NA19 (39 inch 720p) HDTV in our bedroom used every night. Our primary family room HDTV is a Sony XBR55X850D that actually gets the lion share of our viewing. Had a 10 year old 32 inch Toshiba in our finished attic guest room, but gave that to my daughter and was looking for a replacement. I was so impressed with the 39” Insignia in our bedroom, that I was ready to purchase another one of those to replace the Toshiba I gave my daughter. Now this 40 inch 1080p was one of Best Buy’s Deal of the Day sales at the same price I was ready to pay for the 39”. So it was a no-brainer quick online order with same day local pickup. Well once setup and adjusted, I couldn’t be more pleased with the 40D510NA19 vs. the 39D310NA19 with an extra inch in size, three HDMI ports (one is ARC), 1080p vs. 720p resolution, much higher contrast ratio (5,000:1 vs. 3,000:1), and with 40% increase in audio output (7 watts per channel vs. 5 watts per channel). I am using a small indoor HD12 ClearView flat antenna that pulls in around 35 channels without pixilation (room is a 3rd floor finished attic in Raleigh NC). Also using a Sony smart BluRay/DVD player that I use to access streaming services, cast from mobile devices, and playing DVD’s or BR’s through this HDTV. I do have the audio output to an amp connected to a set of 2.1 speakers, but the stock speakers sound very good when used in our enclosed wall unit. I would assume wall mounting would diminish the audio and you would require some type of sound-bar. But truthfully, I have not heard any current Flat-Panel HDTV's who's speakers provide anything more than something temporary to use until you connect a decent sound bar or dedicated system. VA vs. IPS Panel: Because this LCD HDTV being a VA (Vertical Alignment) flat panel, both the contrast (5000:1) and brightness are above average. The major trade off between a VA and IPS (In Plane Switching) panel is the VA will loose color off axis (seated/viewing on an angle) very quickly vs. the IPS will maintain color better off axis at the expense of lower contrast ratio and lower brightness (not good for a dark room). Although most “Specs” do not state the type of panel, you can somewhat assume those with maximum contrast ratios above 2500:1 are probably a VA panel and anything below 1500:1 are probably an IPS panel. Now similar to my other two Insignia’s, I did have to manually adjust and tone down the overly saturated colors. None of the default display choices looked natural to me in any lightly conditions. (See attached pictures for the Custom Color settings that worked for me in a dimly lighted room.) Once adjusted for my environment, I am thoroughly impressed at the price point for this “entry level HDTV”. I do wish it had a higher Refresh Rate than the native 60Hz and maybe better off axis viewing angle. But hey, that is what my Sony XBR is used for… Are there better HDTV’s available? Certainly there are with additional features galore if required by the user. But for either the occasional viewer, or the thrifty consumer, this one is very hard to beat HDTV. Is it for everyone; probably not. Is this the HDTV for you? Maybe…

Very nice bedroom tv.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this 1080p lcd tv for my parents, for a early Christmas gift for theyre bedroom. The tv was wall mounted to a Sanus mount. The color and quality are very nice for only 149.99 on black friday. This is a no frills tv, as in not smart or internet connected. But the small price it has a good picture and colors.

Very Nice TV. VG for Price; VG Regardless of Price
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can't tell much of a difference between my 4k TVs and my 1080p TVs. I am not sure if that's a compliment to my 1080's or an insult to my 4ks. What I can say is this has a bright, clear picture, works great with my ROKU stick and has vibrant colors and a nice, crisp picture. For a flat screen TV, the sound is very good - clear and loud. If you stream everything like I do (no cable TV) you may be subject to data caps like I am from Xfinity. Did you know one 4 k tv uses as much data as four 1080p tvs? Yes, it is true. I had to go to unlimited $$$ as soon as I bought my first 4k set. Anyway, this is my 3rd Insignia and I've had excellent results with all of them. The oldest is 8 years old, maybe older and is still going strong. Of the 3, I like this best. Highly recommended.

Q: QuestionWhat is the distance between the legs?
Asked by AustinTheCat.
- A:Answer Legs are angled. The widest measure is 29 1/2 inches. Including the width of the legs it's 31 inches. Very stable.
Answered by Charold
Q: QuestionCan you use this TV-LED as a computer screen Display using the HDMI input?
Asked by Fitzwilly.
- A:Answer Yes, but because of over scaning I have to use the tv remote to switch to game mode so the entire windows desktop appears on screen. Lowering the resolution of the graphics card to 720 helps to make the letters on the screen bigger and easy to read. The pixels on this tv seem larger than a real computer monitor so the image is not as sharp. Wi dows 7 reconized the tv and it installed the drivers automatically. Adding a wireless keyboard with a built in trackpad to the computer works great for laying in bed and watching videos. I use the computer speakers for sound output as they sound better than the builtin speakers. So yes it can be used with a computer as a monitor but the display is not as sharp as a high end monitor and you might have to make some changes to your sound and graphics settings and download the latest drivers for you video card.
