Details:Yamaha RX-V677 7.2-Channel A/V Receiver for $400
Yamaha RX-V677 7.2-Channel A/V Receiver for $400 today. Yamaha makes good quality A/V Receivers, and this one usually sells for around $600. Overall it does have some mixed reviews, however we would still recommend this (or other Yamaha receivers).

If you are looking to power 2 zones of speakers (like a living room's 5.1 speakers, and stereo speakers in another room), here is a tip for you. Most dual-zone capable Receivers have a main zone and an independent "Zone 2". The Zone 2 must use an analog source separate from the main zone's digital source. That is fine if you only want to listen to an iPod or MP3 player in the second room, but what about the cable box, satellite TV box, Blu-Ray player, Roku, WD TV Live, etc.? Rather than dealing with the difficulty of converting digital to analog, check out a Receiver with a "Zone B" feature. For example, a Yamaha RX-V577 Receiver for $395 has "Zone B" support which will play 5.1 audio in the main zone, and can copy the digital audio to the second zone when on. While both speaker zones must play the same audio source, the convenience of built-in audio conversion can be a huge convenience for powering 2 rooms of speakers from one Receiver. If you only want to power 1 room's speakers, any Receiver will do, including the above Yamaha RX-V677 which can handle 5.1 or 7.2 speakers in a single room.
