This is a great deal to get iPhone service for $30 per month.
  1. Buy an iPhone 4/4S from Radio Shack. The 4 is $350 and the 4S is $450, in-store only. The phones work with Virgin Mobile service, which uses the Sprint network.
  2. Radio Shack is currently offering $10 back for every $50 you spend in a single transaction, a $350 phone purchase could earn you $70 in vouchers. The vouchers cannot be used to buy Apple products, but buying iPhones does appear to quality to get the vouchers.
  3. Virgin Mobile plans include unlimited text and data, and with the Auto-Pay option, costs $30/mo for 300 talk minutes, $40/mo for 1200 talk minutes. All plans include 2.5GB/month of full speed data, after which the bandwidth is reduced. There is no contract, so you can cancel the service anytime.
$30/mo is extremely inexpensive for iPhone service, and the Radio Shack iPhone 4/4S prices are $100 cheaper than what Virgin offers it for. The Sprint network coverage is decent.

iPhones do hold their value very well, and with no contract, you can always sell the phone on Ebay if you decide to stop the service.

AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint all offer iPhone plans starting at $80/mo, so a $30/mo plan would save you $50/mo. You won't have 4G or the latest iPhone 5 or fabulous coverage, but there's a lot to be said for paying only $30/mo.
